Members of Independent SAGE call for blanket border controls to prevent spread of new variants of the virus. Professor Kamlesh Khunti , Professor Susan Michie and Professor Gabriel Scally were quoted in a Guardian story about mounting pressure on Boris Johnson to impose more widespread restrictions on people arriving in the UK.
“We only know about variants in countries where there has been genomic sequencing so a blanket approach at this point of crisis would seem to be sensible,” said Prof Susan Michie.
