Today, Independent SAGE has released two short documents about the UK vaccine strategy.
The first document “Will new variants compromise vaccines?” discusses the risk that new variants of Covid-19 pose to the effectiveness of the vaccine, what this might mean for the next few months and why a suppression strategy is the best way to minimise the risk.
The second document “Comment on the proposal to reschedule the second dose of the vaccine” discussed the government’s plan to move from an interval of 21 days to 12 weeks for the 2-dose administration of the Pfizer-BionTech vaccine.
