This week our focus was on global vaccine equality with guest speakers Oksana Pyzik, UCL School of Pharmacy, and Nick Dearden, director of Global Justice Now and founder of The People’s Vaccine, a group that is calling on the UK government to back a patent waiver for Covid-19 vaccines and treatments.
The session was introduced by Dr Tolullah Oni who pointed out the huge discrepancies between different countries and regions in terms of vaccine roll-out. As of February, just 10 countries had administered 75% of all vaccines globally, while 130 countries had not received a single dose.
